I’ve seen some photos of humongous fish and other sea creatures in my sister magazines (Northwest Sportsman, California Sportsman and Alaska Sporting Journal), but this one is beyond anything I’ve ever spotted in there! A mantis shrimp 18 inches long was caught in Florida this past week, and the photos have gone viral.
According to The Blaze:
“Steve Bargeron was fishing from a dock in Fort Pierce as he watched a fellow fisherman pull this creature out of the water,” the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission wrote on Facebook. “Steve said the massive thing was about 18 inches long and striking its own tail, so he grabbed it by its back like a lobster,” it added.
Looks straight out of a horror movie – notice how big the shrimp is compared to the fisherman’s hand. Hey, maybe they could tie it to the top of a dog and pull this prank on people! Of course, there is something terribly funny about a “big shrimp,” like “jumbo shrimp.”
