Talk about the buzzkill of the century; shortly after winning the PAC-12 championship, the USC women’s tennis team destroyed their trophy. Apparently the celebration got too jovial on the court.
From The Daily Mail:
The women of the University of Southern California tennis team capped off an undefeated conference season on Thursday by winning the PAC-12 championship.
The second-ranked girls defeated the women of the University of California -Los Angeles by a score of 4 – 3 for the win.
Then, in celebrating their big victory, they broke the trophy.
No doubt contributing to the excitement was the fact that USC was trailing UCLA early on, and were initially down 3 – 0 before winning the final four matches.USC now finishes the season 21 – 2 while UCLA is 18 – 4.
Both teams will now compete in the Pac-12 Championships next Thursday, where the players compete individually.
