Ronald Reagan’s Speech on the Space Shuttle Challenger Explosion (1986): Back in 1986, the space shuttle Challenger exploded during take-off. Ronald Reagan gave the following speech in response to that tragic accident. The names are different, but otherwise his words are just as applicable today.

You can see a little of this Reagan speech in what GWB said on Saturday. Especially when W said,

“The same Creator who names the stars also knows the names of the seven souls we mourn today. The crew of the shuttle Columbia did not return safely to Earth; yet we can pray that all are safely home. “
