Chic Seattle Toilets Hit eBay

Remember Seattle’s $5-million toilet misadventure? Replacing affordable portable toilets with extravagant self-flushing super-crappers actually resulted in even more bums defecating in the streets. They cost $360 per day just to maintain, and soon had to be closed down after they became clogged with trash, both literally and figuratively, only drug-dealers and prostitutes being able to find a use for them. Soon all Seattle residents will have to remember the toilets by is the extra charge that was added — evidently permanently — to their sewer bills to pay for them.

Now one of these historic toilets can be yours. In a half-hearted attempt to cut the taxpayers’ massive losses, bureauweenies are selling them on eBay with a starting bid of $89,000 apiece. This is a remarkable bargain, considering what the city paid for them. Yet so far there have been no takers.
