Fisking That Attention Whore, Cindy Sheehan

Over at the Daily Kos, Cindy Sheehan has written a post called “Good Riddance Attention Whore,” in which she declares that she’s quitting the Democratic Party and the anti-war movement so she can go home.

This is fun stuff, so let’s take a few paragraphs out of Sheehan’s piece and analyze them. First of all, let’s add a graphic to go with the title,

“Good Riddance Attention Whore”

Now, on to the beginning of Sheehan’s piece,

I have endured a lot of smear and hatred since Casey was killed and especially since I became the so-called “Face” of the American anti-war movement. Especially since I renounced any tie I have remaining with the Democratic Party, I have been further trashed on such “liberal blogs” as the Democratic Underground. Being called an “attention whore” and being told “good riddance” are some of the more milder rebukes.

Awwwwwwww….people said mean things to a lady who turned her own son’s death into a profit making industry? You don’t say! I will say this though, conservatives never liked Cindy Sheehan because she was an exploitive, lying, America hating, conspiracy theorist who was fawned over by the mainstream press because she held the same position they did on the war and was willing to grotesquely wield her son’s corpse like a cudgel against her enemies.

However, the left, well, they talked her up like she was some great hero,

“Cindy Sheehan has become the Rosa Parks of the anti-war movement.” — Rev. Lennox Yearwood, leader of the Hip Hop Caucus

“Some have compared Cindy Sheehan to Rosa Parks, and I certainly agree.” — Bob Fertik

“For those of us who don’t truly believe in god, she is truly a gift that we must not f*ck up under anyway shape or form. For all of you Jesus believers, she should be looked upon by you as a true savior. For Budhist, she is about true, unconditional love. For Muslims, she wants to stop the pain against your people. She has united this world from love, and there is no greater power then a mother’s love of her child. I know, mine are my life, my soul, my joy and my acomplishments. If anyone would harm them, I would die and want to take down whoever did this. She is justified in her anger, beyond any man can truly understand. She is our Martin Luther King, Bobby K, she is a start of a movement. We don’t get these chances very often because the world is asleep at the wheel. She is the light, don’t let it ever stop burning, because we may not get another chance, they don’t come around that often.” — lynettebro440 at the Democratic Underground

But once they couldn’t use her anymore — or more accurately, once they couldn’t use her son’s death to their advantage anymore, I guess she wasn’t so wonderful anymore.

Now, back to Cindy,

“I have also reached the conclusion that if I am doing what I am doing because I am an “attention whore” then I really need to be committed. I have invested everything I have into trying to bring peace with justice to a country that wants neither. If an individual wants both, then normally he/she is not willing to do more than walk in a protest march or sit behind his/her computer criticizing others. I have spent every available cent I got from the money a “grateful” country gave me when they killed my son and every penny that I have received in speaking or book fees since then. I have sacrificed a 29 year marriage and have traveled for extended periods of time away from Casey’s brother and sisters and my health has suffered and my hospital bills from last summer (when I almost died) are in collection because I have used all my energy trying to stop this country from slaughtering innocent human beings.”

Agreed, although I’m of the opinion that a nice 6 month stay in a mental institution where she could get daily therapy would probably do Cindy a lot of good.

Notice the slaps at America there — pretty typical for a liberal.

But, now we get to the real reason that Sheehan is hanging it up, “my hospital bills from last summer (when I almost died) are in collection…” See? That’s what it’s really all about. The gravy train has finally dried up and Cindy can’t make a good living preying on people’s sympathy for her son anymore, so, it’s time to retire.

More from Cindy,

“However, in five, ten, or fifteen years, our troops will come limping home in another abject defeat and ten or twenty years from then, our children’s children will be seeing their loved ones die for no reason, because their grandparents also bought into this corrupt system.”

Boy, if she believes we’re going to be policing the streets of Baghdad for another 5-15 years, she’s really not the sharpest knife in the drawer and let me add that the only way, “our troops will come limping home in another abject defeat,” is if people like Cindy Sheehan get their way and demand that our troops lose the war.

Here’s one more sound bite from Mama Moonbat,

“This is my resignation letter as the “face” of the American anti-war movement. This is not my “Checkers” moment, because I will never give up trying to help people in the world who are harmed by the empire of the good old US of A, but I am finished working in, or outside of this system. This system forcefully resists being helped and eats up the people who try to help it. I am getting out before it totally consumes me or anymore people that I love and the rest of my resources.

Good-bye America …you are not the country that I love and I finally realized no matter how much I sacrifice, I can’t make you be that country unless you want it.”

Another attack on America or as she refers to it, the “empire of the good old US of A.” Geeze, move to Venezuela already, Cindy — and c’mon, who are you trying to kid? Everybody knows that if you figure out a way to squeeze any more blood money out of your son’s death, you’ll come running back as fast as your legs can take you. But, in the interim, enjoy your “retirement” and again, being “committed” to a mental institution? It would do you some good.

Good bye and good riddance, Cindy Sheehan…until the day comes when you find a way to make a few dollars more off your son’s death.
