Joe Biden: There Are No Bad Guys Left In Iraq

When the war in Iraq turned out to be much longer, bloodier, and more expensive than those of us on the right thought it would be, we had to eat a little humble pie.

Happily though, the Left is now starting to have to deal with the fact that they were 100% wrong about the surge, George Bush was 100% right, and that despite all the pronouncements that the war was “lost,” we are definitely going to win unless they deliberately manage to scuttle a victory because they believe it’ll benefit them politically — and perhaps more importantly, because they want to stick it to George Bush.

That brings us to Joe Biden’s latest comments,

“If John (McCain) wants to know where the bad guys live, come back with me to Afghanistan. We know where they reside. And it’s not in Iraq.”

I’m sure our troops will be glad to know there are no bad guys in Iraq now. I guess they can just take off that body armor, lay back on their tanks, and catch some rays now that all the work is done.

But, there certainly used to be bad guys in Iraq, didn’t there? At one time, Joe Biden thought there were so many bad guys in Iraq that even the Bush Administration thought the war was lost,

“I have reached the tentative conclusion that a significant portion of this administration, maybe even including the vice president, believes Iraq is lost. They have no answer to deal with how badly they have screwed it up. I am not being facetious now. Therefore, the best thing to do is keep it from totally collapsing on your watch and hand it off to the next guy — literally, not figuratively.”

Joe has gone through quite a change, hasn’t he? Just last year, he was claiming that even the Bush Administration thought the war was lost, but now there are no bad guys in Iraq.

This is just the result of another liberal trying to reconcile the two competing ideas in his brain: that Bush is incompetent, the surge can’t work, the war is lost, and we have to pull out ASAP — with the fact that Bush turned out to be a lot more competent than people realized, the surge is working great, we’re on track to win, and it clearly would be a mistake to pull out before victory is fully achieved.
