Q&A Friday #58: Will The Democrats And Republicans Ever Put Partisanship Away?

Question: Will The Republican and Democrat Politicians ever put partisanship away and do the right things for the overall good of “We The People”? — TLF

Answer: Short Answer: No.

Longer Answer: Not only do Republicans and Democrats disagree about what the best course of action is on any given issue, as a general rule, they believe that what the other side is doing will make the situation worse.

So, when you have two diametrically opposed sides, with completely opposing goals on almost every issue of importance, it’s going to be very difficult for them to come together on any issue where they aren’t forced to do so because of political concerns.

PS: And that’s not necessarily a bad thing in many cases. When Democrats and Republicans agree on an issue, like immigration or throwing away our tax dollars on pork barrel spending, it is, as often as not, bad news for the American people. That’s why there is a lot to be said for gridlock.
