The GOP’s Political Fortunes Take A Turn For The Worse

During this whole cycle, I’ve been more optimistic than most people about the GOP’s chances, but based on the last few batches of polls and the smell of desperation in the air, unfortunately, I have to tell you that it’s not looking so good.

In the Senate right now, Santorum and Burns look like they’re in deep trouble, Chafee, DeWine, and Kean appear to be tanking badly, and Talent and Corker are running about even. If the Democrats run the table on all those races, they take back the Senate and unfortunately, that looks much more likely today than it did a few weeks ago.

The House? I’m not sure how much stock to put into the latest batch of Constituent Dynamics Polls, but, if you think the results of the polls they’re doing are accurate, the Dems are probably on track to take between 20-30 seats from the GOP.

I don’t want to say that it’s looking like a bloodbath out there, but uh, unless something changes, it’s looking like a bloodbath out there.

Latest forecast: The GOP loses 4-6 seats in the Senate and 12-24 in the House.
