The Phony Limbaugh Controversy: Joe McCarthy Was A Lightweight Compared To The Modern Left

“It’s troubling that some Democrats have taken a comment by Rush Limbaugh about “phony soldiers” totally out of context in order to find some moral equivalence to get them off the hook for refusing to condemn the MoveOn.org ‘Petraeus’ ad. The only thing phony about this is the contrived controversy.” — Jon Kyl

“Tailgunner Joe” was always a dirty fighter, but at least there were actually communists amongst the targets he was going after. Ironically, after spending decades shrilly denouncing Joe McCarthy, liberals have actually one-upped him in the dirty deeds department with their phony attacks on Rush Limbaugh.

Limbaugh, who has been a staunch supporter of America’s troops, had a comment he made about “phony soldiers” like Jesse Macbeth that was deliberately taken out of context by one of the most dishonest organizations in American politics today: Media Matters.

Even after Limbaugh clearly, beyond a shadow of a doubt, presented a transcript that confirmed that his comments had been deliberately taken out of context, liberal journalists and bloggers deliberately lied to the public about what Limbaugh said and Democratic politicians have publicly denounced Limbaugh for comments that they knew he never made. Now, many of Limbaugh’s political enemies are calling for him to be removed from Armed Forces Radio over comments that he never made.

Nazi propagandist Joseph Goebbels once said that…

“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it.”

…and what you are seeing from the American Left in this attack on Limbaugh is nothing less than Goebbels’ concept being put into practice by liberals without honor, decency, or any sort of intellectual integrity.

Update #1: Here’s a statement John Boehner sent out about the phony limbaugh controversy,

“All it takes to conclude that this is a manufactured controversy is a simple, cursory review of Mr. Limbaugh’s remarks, so pardon me if I am not moved by the crocodile tears shed by left-wing activists in recent days. Moveon.org and its cohorts on and off the Hill would certainly like to change the subject away from the slanderous advertisement they placed in the New York Times about U.S. General David Petraeus, but they are not going to distract anyone with a controversy manufactured out of whole cloth. Frankly, there can be no comparison.

“Limbaugh’s strong support of and charity for U.S. troops is well established and was even recognized by the Marine Corps Law Enforcement Foundation. Unlike Democratic leaders, Rush’s goal is to boost troop morale, not depress it by stalling the resources troops need to complete their mission. Should House Democrats decide to bring forward a ludicrous resolution condemning Limbaugh, Republicans will take to the floor to set the record straight — and welcome the opportunity to do so.”
