Feminist Author Says Don’t Prosecute Football Players For Any Sexual Assault Because They Are All Black…

Sometimes I read something that is so incredibly stupid, it makes my eyes bleed – this is one of those times. I don’t give a crap what color they are. These boys knowingly and deliberately sexually assaulted and hazed another boy. Don’t do the crime, if you can’t do the time. To let them off due to race is the height of lawlessness. Throw the damned book at them and let it serve as a warning to others that this type of barbaric, animalistic behavior will be subject to the full extent of the law and punishment will follow appropriately.

From Judith Levine (CounterPunch):

If it’s true that all seven of the football players arrested for hazing in the Sayreville, New Jersey, War Memorial High School locker room are students of color, that is one more reason not to prosecute them as sexual felons.

I don’t mean not to prosecute them in adult court. I mean not to prosecute them at all.

If they’re guilty, they should be disciplined by the school, kicked off the Bombers team, and held accountable to their victims by making amends in words and deeds.

But the punishment the state will mete out far outweighs the transgression. For kids who are 15 to 17 years old, it will be life crushing.

Yes, more life-crushing even than being punched, kicked, groped, or subject to an unwanted finger inching into your anus.

The sex offender regime is cruel and unusual punishment, excessive even for people who have committed heinous crimes. For these teenagers, whose “sex crimes” were to grab some ass and maybe stick a finger up that ass, it is a massively disproportionate penalty – a life sentence, before their adult lives have begun.

This woman thinks that our laws are too harsh on even those who have committed heinous crimes. Bet she’d change that Progressive tune if she were on the receiving end of one of those ‘said’ crimes. What about the victims? Don’t they have a right to justice? Or is that just for certain colors of skin, juvenile delinquents and felons? You sentence the victim to a lifetime of dealing with this trauma, but you want the perpetrators to walk free and untarnished by their actions? At the ages of 15 to 17, in many cultures, you are considered a man. The boys knew right from wrong and they should have to pay the piper for their dance. Such wisdom from someone who writes deep, thoughtful prose such as Harmful to Minors, My Enemy, My Love, and, most recently, Not Buying It: My Year Without Shopping. I rest my case.
