Obama: Don’t Blame Me For Rising Gas Prices After I Did All Those Things To Drive Them Up

“I didn’t do it, no one saw me do it, there’s no way you can prove anything!” — Barack Obama

Oh wait, did that say Barack Obama? It should have said Bart Simpson. Sorry, it can be a little hard to tell them apart, what with Barack Obama constantly denying responsibility for everything he does. Take gas prices for instance,

US President Barack Obama blamed oil “speculators” on Tuesday for soaring gasoline prices that risk weighing down the US recovery and could dampen his 2012 election hopes.

…”We’re now in a position where we can investigate if there’s unfair speculation. We’re going to be monitoring gas stations to make sure there isn’t any price gouging that’s taking advantage of consumers,” promised Obama.

“But the truth is that it is a world commodity, and when prices spike up like this there aren’t a lot of short-term solutions. What we have are medium- and long-term solutions,” he said.

Of course, it’s those darn speculators and “gouging” gas stations that are causing the problems. Certainly, it couldn’t have anything to do with the fact that Obama doesn’t want us to drill ANWR, that Obama is still holding up offshore drilling, trying to kill tax breaks for drilling, demonizing oil companies, and that he chose to indefinitely prolong the civil war in Libya and threaten their oil supply by buddying up with the Jihadis on the losing side. Could it be that those darn speculators are looking at all those things and concluding, “Gee, gas prices are more likely to go up than down?”

Is Barack Obama the entire reason oil prices have gone up? Certainly not. Does he have a whole hell of a lot more to do with it than speculators or mythical gas stations that are supposedly “gouging” people? Yes, he does and even honest liberals should be able to admit that.
