So If Pamela Geller Is Responsible For The Oslo Nutjob…

If a Jihadi explicitly kills people in the name of Islam, after being urged to do so by other radical Islamists, who believe that it’s a religious duty to kill people in the name of Islam, liberals still insist that this has nothing whatsoever to do with the Muslim religion.

Ok.

But if someone, like say the Oslo killer Anders Behring Breivik, has heard of a conservative like my friend, Pamela Geller or Robert Spencer from Jihad Watch, neither of whom advocate violence, then suddenly they’re supposed to be directly responsible for his crazy actions.

Isn’t it fascinating how that works?

In the manifesto, Breivik cites Geller and other anti-Jihadists as sources for his inspiration. The appearance earned Geller and company a lashing at the hands of The New York Times and many other mainstream media outlets. Reporters have scoured Breivik’s writings, in his manifesto and elsewhere, looking for a connection to anti-jihad activists like Geller.

Geller points out that while she and Jihad Watch’s Robert Spencer appear in Breivik’s manifesto, so do several influential historical thinkers. For instance, the New Yorker reports that Breivik cites Thomas Hobbes, John Locke and Adam Smith. “Are they responsible too?” Geller asks.

Robert Spencer also added,

I have never been in contact with Anders Behring Breivik.

If I was indeed an inspiration for his work, I feel the way the Beatles must have felt when they learned that Charles Manson had committed murder after being inspired by messages he thought he heard in their song lyrics. There were no such messages. Nor is there, for any sane person, any inspiration for harming anyone in my work, which has been consistently dedicated to defending human rights for all people.

How sad is it that they even have to defend themselves from such completely baseless charges? How hypocritical is it that the same people in the mainstream media who are in absolute denial about the threat of radical Islam, are using these sort of baseless attacks to smear people like Geller and Spencer the same way liberals tried to slime conservatives like Rush Limbaugh after the Oklahoma City Bombing? Hey, what do you think the chances are that if Anders Behring Breivik was a fan of Keith Olbermann or Barack Obama that our unbiased mainstream media would be accusing them of having some responsibility for him? Zero, right? Because after all, they certainly didn’t advocate anything like that and the idea that they should have some sort of blame for it would be laughable, right? Right.

Well, all I can say is that if Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer are responsible for Anders Behring Breivik, then Al Gore’s responsible for the Unabomber, Noam Chomsky is responsible for Bin Laden, and Barack Obama is responsible for gang violence in LA.
