This is extremely disturbing. If there is anything the left and right can agree upon, it’s stopping ISIS; not only from brutally executing Christians and Jews – as well as their own slightly more moderate Muslims – but from coming after US citizens. Even Obama realizes ISIS is a serious threat. Senator Ted Cruz has just introduced a common-sense bill to revoke the passports of Americans who traveled to the Middle East to fight on behalf of ISIS, after they return to the US. Yet now Democrat Mazie Hirono, a freshman senator from Hawaii, is trying to block his bill.

Weasel Zippers reports on her reasoning, citing the Daily Mail,

Hirono said she chose to throw up a road block because ‘legislation that grants the government the ability to strip citizenship from Americans is a serious matter raising significant constitutional issues.’

She also cited letters of objection from the Constitution Project and the American Civil Liberties Union.

Hirono is naive. While there have been recent massive governmental intrusions into our Fourth Amendment civil liberties, as we’ve seen with the NSA spying, this is not one of them. This legislation identifies a clear case of protecting innocent Americans from the suicidal terrorists who would destroy us. There is a difference between traitors, criminal behavior, and innocent Americans. I think we can all agree that ISIS does not fit the latter category. How many more innocent Americans need to be beheaded until people realize this is not about Fourth Amendment liberties?
