The Supreme Court Says the Obama Administration Can’t Force Catholic Groups to Obey Abortion Mandate

Obama and the Progressives will keep going back to the abortion watering hole at the Supreme Court until and if a true conservative president is elected. They just won’t take no for an answer no matter how many times they are ruled against. The Constitution is very plain on the matter of protecting religious rights and freedoms… but then again, Obama doesn’t give a flying crap about the Constitution. So, while the nation is distracted with orchestrated violence and chaos in our streets, Obama keeps up his legal manipulations trying to rule the country by decree while everyone is ensconced in the latest meltdown. Obama has a whole closet full of squirrels ready to set loose. Yes, he does.

From BuzzPo:

While much of the nation has been focused on bad news in Baltimore this week, the U.S. Supreme Court issued some good news for pro-life advocates on Monday. The high court issued an order preventing the Obama administration from forcing a Catholic group in Michigan to obey the HHS mandate that requires them to pay for abortion-causing drugs for their employees.

In its Monday ruling, the high court ordered a lower court to reconsider its ruling that denied a group of Catholic ministries in Michigan the freedom to follow their faith. Monday’s ruling seems to indicate that the Supreme Court isn’t buying the Obama administration’s Lilliputian view of religious liberty.

This is the fifth time the Supreme Court has rejected the Obama administration’s arguments on forcing those who object to abortion-causing drugs on religious grounds to provide them, according to LifeNews.

Mark Rienzi, Senior Counsel of the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, an amicus brief in the case, said:

“The government keeps making the same bad arguments and the Supreme Court keeps rejecting them – every single time. This is because the government can obviously come up with ways to distribute contraceptives without the forced involvement of Catholic ministries. As with the Supreme Court’s decisions in Little Sisters of the Poor and Hobby Lobby, this is a strong signal that the Supreme Court will ultimately reject the government’s narrow view of religious liberty. And it makes it less likely that lower courts will accept arguments the Supreme Court has rejected over and over and over again.”

The Michigan Catholic Conference and other Catholic ministries brought their request to the Supreme Court after a lower court’s decision would have allowed the IRS to impose large fines against the ministries because they cannot provide contraceptives and abortion-inducing drugs in their employee health plans, based on their religious beliefs. The federal government has relied heavily on that decision, arguing that it should be able to impose similar burdens on religious ministries like the Little Sisters of the Poor.

Lori Windham, Senior Counsel for the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, said what most everyone who’s been following these kinds of cases is thinking. Calling the government’s argument “absurd,” Windham said:

“That argument has always been absurd. Every time a religious plaintiff has gone to the Supreme Court for protection from the government’s discriminatory mandate the Court has protected them. That’s what happened to the Little Sisters of the Poor, Wheaton College, Notre Dame, and Hobby Lobby.”

Meanwhile, a December 2013 Rasmussen Reports poll shows Americans disagree with forcing companies like Hobby Lobby to obey the mandate. Another recent poll found 59 percent of Americans disagree with the mandate.

Hope springs eternal…

Most of America does not want this evil mandate by Obama. But that doesn’t stop him from trying to shove it down our throats. Christians are finally beginning to stand up and with one voice proclaim, “We will not comply!” Christians answer to God, not Barack Obama. Their argument for enforced provisions in insurance to provide abortion coverage is absurd. Obama goes after nuns, churches, ministries, businesses… anyone who has the nerve to stand against his abortion directive. But just as Obama will not back down, neither will Christians. This is a fight to the bitter end and one we must not lose.
