As technology has evolved during the past decade, parts of the world that used to be strange and alien to us are being explored, sometimes with very shocking discoveries.

The Greenwood (South Carolina) Index Journal reported that a fisherman who was using a depth finder to find the perfect spot to fish in a lake picked up something truly shocking and had to call the police.

The fisherman, who was not named, discovered a car at the bottom of Lake Russel in Calhoun Falls, South Carolina on Saturday. Inside the car was the body of a man who had been missing since 2000.

John Henry Dubose was reported missing on Sept. 25, 2000, after he had reportedly fled his home due to marital problems. His family reported him missing after he did not show up at their house and because he had previously expressed suicidal thoughts.

The police had actually searched the lake back in 2000, but the technology they had then wasn’t what’s commonly available now. While tests will hopefully reveal the cause of death of the late Mr. Dubose, at least the family knows where he is.
