More Revolting GM Volt News

I know we are supposed to feel all warm and cozy from this new General Motors television ad (see below) thanking us for bailing them out…..but: it is really just one more thumb in the eye to the U.S. taxpayer.

Are WE also paying for this slick nationwide advertising campaign to remind US that we have PAID and PAID to bail out GM?

Discounting the liberal media and “in-the-tank of GM” : auto rag hype of the IPO, the “revolting” Chevrolet Volt news stories far outweigh the good. It seems there is no end to the ways taxpayers are paying for this fake green technology that noone wants to buy.

Bloomberg carried the blockbuster news that noone noticed before Thanksgiving that in addition to bailing out General Motors and selling the Volt at a loss to customers, the American taxpayers are also subsidizing hybrid cars another way: The U.S. government since Obama was elected has been buying up the supply of:  cars:  that:  “real” : American customers don’t want.

Bloomberg:

The U.S. General Services Administration, which runs the government fleet, bought at least 14,584 hybrid vehicles in the past two fiscal years, or about 10 percent of 145,473 vehicles the agency purchased in that period, according to sales data obtained by Bloomberg under a Freedom of Information Act request. In fiscal 2008, hybrids accounted for less than 1 percent of government purchases, the data showed…..

About 3,100 of the hybrids purchased by GSA were paid for out of $300 million that the agency received from the 2009 economic stimulus package, said Sara Merriam, a spokeswoman for the agency, in an interview. Another 5,600 were bought with proceeds from selling older cars in the government fleet, she said. A majority of fiscal 2009 hybrid sales came after Obama took office in January 2009……….

Hybrid and electric vehicle technology only makes sense if it can stand without government support, Ford Chief Executive Alan Mulally told Detroit-area supplier executives in a Nov. 8 speech that was closed to the media.

“He was saying, ‘You have to have a business that doesn’t need all these government incentives,’” Karen Hampton, a Ford spokeswoman said, recounting the talk. “Incentives have a role to play when you’re trying to get new technology off the ground or change behaviors, but it’s not meant to be a permanent part of the business equation.”

WELL…… DUH!

The government lying and covering for this sense-forsaken stupid-mobile just keeps on……there is, apparently no FIB too big to tell about Volt.

There is a big effort now to boost the advertised EPA mileage for the Volt. After the Nissan Leaf was able to claim a 99 mpg EPA rating, Volt somehow came up with the figure of 93 mpg…..except that it ISN’T really 93 mpg. And now it is said the Volt will only go 35 miles before needing a charge? I am beginning to wonder, too if the Volt battery will be one of those batteries you must run all the way down before re-charging or risk having it have gradually less and less battery life? You know those kinds of batteries?

Former Obama bailout chief Steve Rattner is even ratting out the Volt, saying he was privy to the figures back when and the Volt was going to cost AT LEAST $40,000 to build. (Sales price is $41,000 but is being sold with rebates at a loss to customers)

And now we are finding out who is buying the General Motors stock…it is unsettling, isn’t it, to have the Chinese owning 1% and the Saudis owning another 1%? Without sounding xenophobic, General Motors DOES have military contracts….isn’t this a conflict?

Prince Al Waleed bin Talal

Prince Al Waleed bin Talal owns 7% of News Corp (Fox News) and now owns 1% of GM

Al-Talwaleed’s Kingdom holdings and China’s SAIC each buy $500 million of GM IPO

GM directors, executives buy stock at $33 offer price
