BREAKING: Obama Attends Orlando Memorial – Shamelessly Targets Gun Rights Supporters

Obama’s a big fan of Alinsky-esque tactics, especially the one saying to “never let a crisis go to waste”. Well, there’s been a crisis and Obama wasted no time exploiting it.

From the Independent Journal:

Obama’s motorcade made the short drive to Amway Arena, where he met with families and survivors.

Accompanied by Vice President Biden, the President also spent time with law enforcement who were on hand in the minutes and hours following the shooting that left 49 people dead and 53 wounded.

They also met with the owners and staff of Pulse Night Club; two employees were killed in the hail of bullets.

According to White House spokesman Josh Earnest, the President saw visiting Orlando today as his “solemn responsibility,” and a “tangible example” of standing shoulder-to-shoulder with those affected by the tragedy.

Shortly after departing Amway, Obama and Biden visited a makeshift memorial near City Hall, each carrying a large bouquet of 49 white flowers to leave at the site in honor of the victims.

In brief comments afterwards, Obama, with Biden by his side, said the families’ loss is insurmountable:

“They are our family. They’re part of the American family …. Their grief is beyond description …. Our hearts are broken, too.”

However, he also took the opportunity to talk about gun control:

“Those who were killed and injured here were gunned down by a single killer with a powerful assault weapon. The motives of this killer may have been different than the mass killers in Aurora, or Newtown, but the instruments of death were so similar.”

He hit out at gun rights advocates, blaming them for the families’ anguish:

“Those who defend the easy accessibility of assault weapons, should meet these families and explain why that makes sense….Why is it they think our liberty requires these repeated tragedies? That’s not the meaning of liberty.”

Obama’s turn at the memorial podium swiftly turned from condolence to finger-wagging—specifically directed at Republicans in Congress:

“I hope that Senators who voted ‘no’ on background checks after Newtown have a change of heart. And then I hope the House does the right thing and helps to end the plague of violence that these weapons of war inflict on so many young lives.”

Obama laid full blame for mass shootings at the feet of Republicans and gun advocates:

“If we don’t act, we will keep seeing more massacres like this, because we will be choosing to allow them to happen. We will be saying we don’t care enough to do something about it.”

Afterwards, Obama and Biden departed for the airport and the flight back to Washington.

Nothing like a good tragedy that Obama can use to push his anti-gun agenda, right? After all, he’s only been trying to grab our guns for his entire presidency. This may be his last chance.
