Trump was all over, but no one could find Obama!

The Army-Navy game is a HUGE deal. But even bigger was President-elect Donald Trump showing up to cheer the teams on. Just awesome. Trump is allegedly the first President-elect to ever attend the game. Obama only attended one in his eight years as president and that was in 2011. You would have thought that Donald Trump was a conquering general they way he was cheered when they discovered he was in attendance on the jumbo-tron. You see, Trump did not announce he was coming. He didn’t want to make the game about him, but instead about the military that he loves and respects.

The applause was thunderous and there were signs for Trump everywhere. They made him part of their rivalry. The crowd roared their approval in the Baltimore Raven’s stadium. It was the 117th face off for the two teams. Trump was encased behind bullet proof glass (can you blame him?) and started off on the Navy side. There simply could not be a bigger difference between the way the military thought of Obama and the way they enthusiastically embraced Donald Trump. I would say Obama is definitely fired.

From the AP:

BALTIMORE (AP) — Donald Trump was greeted with cheers on his arrival at the annual Army-Navy game on Saturday, basking in one of the nation’s most storied football rivalries as he prepares to enter the White House.

The future commander in chief, protected by panes of bulletproof glass, waved to the crowd and pumped his fist as he arrived during the first quarter of the 117th game between the military academies at West Point and Annapolis. The game, on a sunny but chilly day, was being held on relatively neutral ground, at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore.

Trump, in an interview with CBS Sports announcers Verne Lundquist and Gary Danielson, said he was “totally neutral” on the outcome of the game and quipped that he might make Lundquist, who was retiring from the play-by-play booth, his ambassador to Sweden.

“I just love the armed forces, love the folks. The spirit is so incredible. I mean, I don’t know if it’s necessarily the best football, but it’s very good. But boy do they have spirit,” Trump said. Navy had won 14 straight contests in the rivalry, but Army’s underdog Black Knights prevailed, 21-17, in a fourth quarter comeback that came weeks after Trump’s stunning victory over Hillary Clinton.

As per custom, at halftime, Trump followed etiquette and trekked the halls under the stadium to the other side… the Army side of the field. He was there for the rest of the game. As he went, Trump took time to shake the hands of the enlisted men and women. They adore him and just could not get enough.

Midshipmen and West Point Cadets trolled each other with well-known Trump-isms. The mood was celebratory. “I watched generals and admirals walking up to him with such appreciation,” said a member of Trump’s advance team. He was in the room as high-level military brass were ushered in to meet the President-elect, “They seemed relieved. I heard one of them say they felt like there is a whole new life for the military.” After eight long, brutal depressing years of Obama, the military is breathing a sigh of relief and they now have a Commander-in-Chief that loves and respects them once again. They can’t wait for January 20th.
