Trump Meets With Gore: Reason For Concern?

So, this happened Monday

(CNN) President-elect Donald Trump met on Monday with Al Gore — one of the most vocal advocates of fighting climate change.

Before the meeting, Trump spokesman Jason Miller told reporters on a daily briefing call that Gore would meet with Ivanka Trump, the President-elect’s daughter, about climate issues, but he did not know what specifically was on the agenda. He had also said the former Democratic vice president would not meet with Trump himself.

But Gore told reporters after the meeting that he met with Trump himself after seeing Ivanka.

“I had a lengthy and very productive session with the President-elect,” Gore said, according to the pool report. “It was a sincere search for areas of common ground. I had a meeting beforehand with Ivanka Trump. The bulk of the time was with the President-elect, Donald Trump. I found it an extremely interesting conversation, and to be continued, and I’m just going to leave it at that.”

Now, there is no reason why people cannot meet and talk with political opponents, or any type of opponents. As a matter of fact, that should be a good thing in an open and free society. However, what was the subject(s) of the meeting? Did Gore attempt to persuade Trump on Hotcoldwetdry? Or, perhaps they discussed the best private jet to take to the next ‘climate change’ meeting, COP 23 in Bonn, Germany, in early November 2017? Or, maybe about a national carbon tax? Or, maybe they discussed the property values of mansions in Malibu?

There’s certainly room for agreement in action, as I’ve stated many, many times. There’s nothing wrong with pushing for more alternative energy. The problem is how it is done. The current mode of throwing billions in taxpayer money, most of which goes to campaign donors, to alternatives programs which produce few jobs and little energy, and, that energy is well above the cost of current energy, is a bad method. There are many things to find common ground on, like true environmental standards, discount all the ‘climate change’ garbage. More energy efficiency. And so forth.

But, this kind of meeting with zero details creates concern, and is one of the reasons I’ve long stated that I really don’t trust the guy. We’ll have to see what he actually does when inaugurated.

What’s Up With That’s Eric Worrell doesn’t seem concerned. I guess we’ll see, and whether Ivanka can talk daddy into doing lots of the same things Obama did.
