Just For The Record, I’m Not Offended In The Least That…

Ann Coulter said,: “I highly approve of Romney’s decision to be kind and gentle to the retard.”

That might not be the nicest comment in the world, but since when did “retard” become a curse word? Ann Coulter has had worse things said to her 100 times a day.

I’m also not offended in the least that Sarah Palin said: “President Obama’s shuck and jive shtick.”: Nobody has given a coherent explanation for what’s supposed to be racist about the phrase or why it’s fine for liberals like Chris Matthews and Jay Carney to use it, but not Sarah Palin.

Last but not least, I’m not offended in the least that Richard Mourdock said, “I struggled with it myself for a long time, but I came to realize that life is that gift from God. And, I think, even when life begins in that horrible situation of rape, that it is something that God intended to happen.” Whether you agree with his position or not, that’s a thoughtful statement that shouldn’t be surprising or offensive to anyone who’s Christian, pro-life, or even a phony pro-lifer like his opponent Joe Donnelly.

So, if the most easily offended people in the world want to be offended again and a few nervous conservatives want to cater to them, that’s fine, but my outrage meter is at zero in all three cases.
