Boxing champion Floyd Mayweather claims to have witnessed a horrifying murder-suicide happen in real-time as he was on “FaceTime,” a video chat service, with one of his best friends on Monday morning.

Rapper Earl Hayes, furious over allegations that his wife had been unfaithful, called Mayweather on FaceTime Monday morning, TMZ reports. Hayes reportedly told Mayweather that he was going to kill his wife, VH1 star Stephanie Moseley.

Sources close to Mayweather reportedly told TMZ that the boxer attempted to talk down the rapper and prevent him from doing something extreme.

Sadly, the boxer’s pleas didn’t work as Hayes allegedly pulled out a gun and shot his wife before turning the weapon on himself. It wasn’t immediately clear exactly what Mayweather witnessed on FaceTime, but he has apparently confirmed he was a witness and “heard everything,” the report adds.

Law enforcement sources said residents heard screaming before gunshots rang out on monday morning. When officers responded to calls of shots fired, they found both Hayes and Moseley shot dead.

How horrible! All you can really do in a situation like this is offer your condolences to the family and friends of Stephanie Moseley and hope that Mayweather doesn’t blame himself. He did what he could, but people have free will and unfortunately they sometimes use it to do incredibly stupid, destructive things.

Update: Reportedly, the affair in question was an old one with rapper Songz.

Sources connected with Hayes told TMZ that roughly two years ago the rapper separated from Stephanie because of her alleged affair with Songz.

Trey Songz earned the nickname ‘Mr Steal Your Girl’ from a song on his sixth album Trigga

The couple reconciled, but a source told the news site that Hayes ‘was crushed and never got over it’.

He is said to have continuously brought up the affair and accused his wife of having multiple flings with various other entertainers.

Hours after the news of the deaths broke, on Monday night Songz tweeted: ‘R.I.P babygirl. Once an angel on earth, now watching over us from Heaven. You’ll b missed but never forgotten. Love.’
Grammy-nominated Songz – real name Tremaine Aldon Neverson – earned the nickname ‘Mr Steal Your Girl’ from a song on his sixth album Trigga, in which he sings about taking another man’s girlfriend.
