We likely didn’t hear about this because the media was so focused on the terror attack in Turkey, but it is equally important.
At about the same time the Istanbul Airport was under attack, a man opened fire at a downtown office building in Denver.
The Denver Post reported an active shooter was wreaking havoc in a downtown office building, drawing a heavy and quick response by police.
At least seven police cruisers and possibly two motorcycle units arrived on the scene, according to photos. Police cordoned off the area with crime scene tape. Video footage revealed occupants of the building and nearby offices were evacuated, as citizens can be seen running from the building with hands raised in a “don’t shoot” fashion.
Upon further investigation, it was determined the shooter was dead, apparently from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
One woman was taken to the hospital and treated for multiple gunshot wounds. According to authorities, the patient is in critical condition.
A witness, Diana Best, described the scene. “I heard screaming, I saw the door to the second floor open and there was just loud screaming,” Best said. “I think there was a lot of confusion. People were screaming, ‘There’s a man with a gun inside.’”
This sounds like a case of workplace violence or a revenge-driven shooting, but the motive is not yet known.
