Cadaver dealer Caught In HUGE Scandal, ‘stored heads in mouthwash, washed human remains down the drain’

This is the very definition of sick and twisted. Arthur Rathburn is a cadaver dealer in Detroit — who does that for a living? He is embroiled in a huge scandal. He would wash human remains and waste down the drain and put them in the everyday garbage. He lied to the families of the deceased concerning what he did with their bodies. He would dismember them and keep the head and limbs to sell. He also stored heads in mouthwash. This guy sounds messed up and evil.

Rathburn’s business was called International Biological Inc. He would cremate the torsos of the bodies before storing the head and limbs. He rented out infected body parts for medical or dental training without the permission of the families involved. This man is totally devoid of ethics and I’m sure they are lining up to sue him. He’ll probably wind in prison over this mess as well.

Arthur Rathburn (above, outside Theodore Levin United States Courthouse in Detroit in February) is accused of dismembering bodies and renting infected parts to medical researchers without the permission of the deceased’s family.

From the Daily Mail:

A cadaver dealer washed human remains down the drain, stored heads in mouthwash and lied to families about what he did with the bodies of their loved ones, prosecutors say.

Arthur Rathburn operated International Biological Inc., which rented out body parts for medical or dental training.

He is accused of dismembering bodies and renting infected parts to medical researchers without the permission of the deceased’s family, the Detroit Free Press reports.

After years of the FBI building a criminal case against Rathburn, of Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan, federal prosecutors are preparing to take the case to trial soon.

This case is about to go to trial. It has taken the FBI years to build a solid case against this dirtbag. Rathburn and his attorney are trying to ensure the grizzly details of his dealings are not aired in court. However, his request was denied this week by a judge who said his Detroit warehouse appears to be a ‘hub of illegal activity.’

This guy allegedly shipped blood-filled coolers of fresh heads on commercial airlines. He stored THOUSANDS of body parts on ice at his warehouse. Just horrific. The FBI seized the body parts in 2013 during a raid. Three confidential sources have now come forward to testify against this monster… two of them are former employees.

Rathburn and his wife Elizabeth were indicted in January after years of being watched by authorities. I wonder why it took so freaking long? In his indictment, Rathburn falsely claimed that eight human heads shipped in 2012 had been embalmed. Since human blood was found in the coolers they were stored in, that was obviously not true. His wife has struck a deal with prosecutors and she has pleaded guilty to wire fraud. She could get four to ten months in prison, which sure doesn’t sound nearly long enough considering their crimes. Must have cut a deal. Some of the remains tested positive for Hepatitis B and HIV.

These two paragons of virtue are now divorcing and the wife is testifying against Rathburn. Why am I not surprised? Hubby is charged with fraud, making false statements and transporting hazardous materials. Isn’t there a charge for being morally disgusting? He has pleaded not guilty of course. If he’s convicted, he could get 20 years. I so hope he gets the maximum sentence here.

The Rathburns sold body parts from Illinois and Arizona between 2007 and 2013 to researchers. Rathburn was the co-ordinator of the University of Michigan’s anatomical donation program in the 1980’s, but he was fired for selling bodies. Hello?! That should have been a huge red flag right there. He started his own cadaver-dealing business in 1989. The business was reportedly lucrative with human bodies bringing in up to $100,000 and brains going for $600. Hands and elbows fetched $850, according to court records obtained by the Free Press. It’s that other, other way of making money. Just disturbing.

This guy is a ghoul, plain and simple. Throw the book at him.
