Wanted Sex Offender ‘Held Girlfriend Hostage in Wooden Box for 4 Months’

The evil acts humans can commit will never cease to amaze and disappoint me. James Barton Horn, wanted Missouri sex offender, is being hunted by authorities after keeping his girlfriend in a box for four months. He is facing charges including felonious restraint, sexual assault and assault.

From The Daily Mail:

A central Missouri woman told police she fled from a home she shared with a man who’d been holding her captive since January, sometimes confined in a wooden box, authorities said on Friday.

The woman, 38, was hysterical when she called police on Thursday night but had calmed down enough by the time officers arrived to describe being controlled by the man, Sedalia police Chief John DeGonia said in a news conference on Friday.

She told police he routinely locked her inside a wooden box, although they did occasionally leave the home and had contact with other people, such as family members, The Sedalia Democrat reported.

The alleged victim called 911 from a neighbor’s home just after 6 p.m. on Thursday to say she had just managed to escape from the house of horrors on the 800 block of E. 15th Street.

Authorities were searching Friday for 47-year-old James Barton Horn Jr., of Sedalia, who they said fled by the time police arrived Thursday.

DeGonia said his department is working with federal authorities and expects Horn will face charges, possibly including felonious restraint, sexual assault and assault.

Online court records show Horn pleaded guilty in 1997 in federal court in Mississippi to unlawfully kidnapping and abducting his estranged wife.

He was sentenced to 12 years and 11 months in prison, plus five years supervised release. The probation jurisdiction was transferred in 2012 to Missouri, according to online records.

The case was reassigned Friday to Judge Stephen R. Bough in Kansas City. U.S. Attorney’s Office spokesman Don Ledford said he couldn’t comment because no new charges have been filed.

Tom Levidiotis, Horn’s defense attorney in the Mississippi case, said he couldn’t comment.

Detective Josh Howell said the woman’s story is credible because ‘what she told us is exactly what we found.’

What an absolute creep! He should be locked up in a wooden box for four months and see what it’s like. Then he should be locked up for the rest of his life, because he’s a menace to society!
