It seems obvious: never let your kids go off with a complete stranger. But one mother allowed a creepy man to take her daughter around Walmart and it was the little girl who paid the price.

From the Conservative Tribune:
According to WLTV, the 2013 footage shows young Cherish Perrywinkle walking in the store with a man believed by authorities to be convicted sex offender Donald Smith, who went on to kidnap, rape and murder the young girl later that evening.
The incident occurred in a Jacksonville, Florida, Walmart, and consisted of a friendly Smith walking up to and talking with both Cherish and her mother, Rayne Perrywinkle.
Smith reportedly offered to buy the mother and daughter some clothes and shoes, as well as some hamburgers at the McDonald’s restaurant located inside the store.
Rayne ultimately called the police later that night when she couldn’t find her daughter, providing a description of Smith and the white van he was seen driving in.
Smith and the van were located the next morning and he was placed under arrest. The girl’s lifeless body had been discovered dumped in front of a church.
It seems suspicious, to say the least, that the mother let her daughter go off with a stranger and didn’t call the police until hours later. Best case scenario, she was an extremely foolish woman who probably shouldn’t have the responsibility of ensuring the safety and welfare of a child anyway.
