Brave Teenager Shot to Death by Stepfather While Protecting 2 Yr-Old Brother on Thanksgiving

A 16 year-old boy made the ultimate sacrifice for his mom and two year-old brother on Thanksgiving. Andres Arias was determined to protect them from his stepfather no matter what. He got between the drunk thug and his mother and then shielded his little brother who the man was trying to take away. The stepfather went and got a gun and then shot Andres four times, killing him in the parking lot of their apartment building. His mother and sister are hysterical with grief. His sister said her brother was a true hero. Some Thanksgiving for this family. Just tragic.

From the Daily Mail:

A teen was shot dead by his drunken stepfather on Thanksgiving Day, say police.

Andres Arias, 16, of Chamblee, Georgia, was reportedly trying to protect his two-year-old brother from Cristino Ramos-Santos, 35, when he was shot four times during a family party, reports 11 Alive.

Ramos-Santos fled the scene in a black SUV and remains at large.

Andres’ sister, Fabiola Arias, said: ‘My brother was just trying to protect my little brother. He was trying to save him because he [Ramos-Santos] was trying to take him away from us.’

She added: ‘He tried to fight my mom too. My brother got in-between them, and he pushed him away. My brother – he always tries to be the brave one – and then my stepdad went and took the gun and shot him four times.

‘I was standing right there and we were trying to stop him.

‘My brother was the hero,’ she told WSB-TV. ‘He was trying to stop my little brother from getting taken.’

The killing happened in the parking lot of The Estuary Apartments on Henderson Mill Road in DeKalb County.

A tearful family friend, Paula LaValley, said of the victim: ‘He was a very good kid, very protective of his family, especially his mom.

Arias was in the 11th grade at Lakeside High School.

Police are searching for Ramos-Santos, who they believe fled in a black GMC SUV with Georgia tag PYI 2488.

Police say they have murder warrants on him.

The stepfather is still on the run in a black GMC SUV with Georgia plates. The sister and toddler watched the whole horrific event and the little one was knocked to the ground in the fight. He was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, but will be fine. The family will never really recover from the loss of Andres. The mother should have chosen better in the form of a husband and she should have gotten them away from this man. Andres’ sister Fabiola doesn’t know if her step dad fled the state or is hiding with friends and family. “I want him to be in prison. I want him to rot in there,” Fabiola said. “I want him to feel what I felt. I want him to never see his kids, because my brother is dead and I’m never going to see him again.” DeKalb County police are asking anyone who has seen a black Yukon with tag# PYI-24-88 or Cristino Ramos-Santos to call them immediately. My prayers are with the family. I hope they find the stepfather and he gets exactly what he deserves.
