Just like my father, Willie Nelson has emphysema. He’s also had several bouts of pneumonia. If he’s like my father, he must have intense coughing fits and black outs. So Willie is getting a stem-cell operation to see if that will help his lungs. I hope it does. I know he has a tour he wanted to go on this year, but his health comes first. The tour will be waiting for him when he gets done getting better. Smoking can really mess up your lungs and cause horrible side effects. Maybe this will help.
From Qpolitical:
Willie Nelson is a staple of American country music. He’s always stayed true to own sense of style and identity, and it’s this authenticity that has made a way for him in America’s hearts.
Willie recently recorded an album with long time friend, Merle Haggard, called “Django and Jimmie” and the powerhouse duo hit the road to tour. Unfortunately, they had to cancel a few shows because Willie was having health issues.
Finally Willie announced what exactly was going on.
“Over the years I’ve smoked a lot of cigarettes and I’ve had emphysema and pneumonia four or five times, so my lungs were really screwed up, and I had heard that this stem-cell operation would be good for them. So I said, ‘Well, I’m gonna try it out.’”
Stem cell research has been shown to produce amazing results in people who receive them. Keep Willie in your prayers, so he can continue making music for all of us!
A lot of people really adore Willie Nelson and are concerned for him. He’s had a long, productive life and hopefully he will live and sing many more years. The way we live eventually catches up with all of us sooner or later. Even the famous can’t fend off mortality forever. Money can’t buy you one more day than you are allotted on this earth. Country music would be devastated to lose someone like Willie Nelson who is an icon and a legend. Sometimes doctors work miracles. Here’s to hoping Willie gets one and is back on the circuit soon.
