When a store sets up a rule, generally people follow it. For instance, “No shirt, no shoes, no service.” The rule itself is usually set up in response to an issue, such as people not wearing shirts and offending other customers.
You do not get to break these rules because you’re a special snowflake who thinks that you’re above rules simply because of your religion.
Nadia Kamal claims the store Advance America Cash Advance, a payday lender, recently denied her service because of her hijab. When the store asked her to remove the garb, Kamal refused, for both “religious and cultural reasons”.
“The lady she told them just take it off a little bit and put it back,” Fatah Kamal, Nadia’s husband, told MyFoxPhilly. “She said I can’t, ‘I’m in a public place I cannot do that.’”
However the store had a sign up telling customers that no sunglasses or hats could be worn inside. The store had suffered numerous criminal incidents and cannot easily identify suspects with head coverings on video.
When MyFoxPhilly contacted Advance America Cash Advance, an employee at the store said that the religious garb raised safety concerns.
Nonetheless, the incident “hurt” the couple and they already plan to not return to that Advance America Cash Advance store, as they shared with MyFoxPhilly.
But of course you can count on the Muslim Al Sharptons at CAIR to rev up their lawyers, and so they have.
Dawud Walid of the Council of American Islamic Relations believes the store acted in the wrong.
“This is really about ignorance, it’s really about fossilized policies and people being stubborn and not coming up to the modern time.” He plans to sue.
Um, so refusing to tolerate oppressive Medieval headcoverings is not “modern”?
But it turns out the woman is a major hypocrite.
As one commenter on Twitter noted — if Nadia Kamal were so observant — then what in Allah’s name was she doing in a payday loan store — which charges interest?
You see, Muslims are not permitted to pay interest.
Oopsie-daisy! Unless this is the ONE payday loan place in America that doesn’t charge interest (doubtful at best) then she’s not really as devoutly Muslim as she thinks she is.
