The Police Deemed This Grandmother’s Stuffed Animal As Being ‘Racist’ And Demanded She Remove It

Britain has officially gone whacked. They have taken political correctness to a whole new level, where their version of Big Brother is going door to door and telling people stuffed animals are racist. This woman says someone made a complaint to the police and I believe her. The police say they saw the doll in the window and then they inquired about it being possibly racist, but it somehow doesn’t ring true. They evidently thought it was a dead, black body. Whatever happened to personal freedoms, especially in your own home? And doesn’t she deserve the benefit of the doubt before you come a’knockin’ on her door?

From Western Journalism:

A grandmother who knits animals was recently told that her knit toy gorilla, named Cilla the Gorilla, is a “potentially racist offensive object.”

Mrs. Feast, who lives in Ely, Cambridgeshire, was told by two police officers that the knitted gorilla she had hung in her window needed to come down.

Here’s the story in her own words:

“Two police officers, a man and a woman, knocked on the door at about 7.30pm.

“They told me they needed to speak to me about the ‘black body’ hanging in my window.

“I said ‘Pardon? Do you mean the baby gorilla?’ to which they replied ‘Ah, that’s what it is, is it?’

“They said the gorilla had offended a passer-by and that I needed to take it down.

“‘I told them there was no way I was taking it down and to be honest I basically closed the door in their face. I was so shocked.’”

“I wish I’d asked them what the person had found so offensive but I was too angry. I presume it was either the way she was hanging or the fact Cilla is black, both of which are, quite frankly, pathetic.

“The police haven’t been back since and everyone I’ve told can’t believe it.”

“I can’t believe someone would be so sad as to take offence to a woollen toy, let alone reporting it to police. I’m sure the police have more important things to worry about.”

A spokesman for the Cambridge Police relayed a different story, one in which the police officers, rather than a passerby, were the ones initially concerned about the toy.

The spokesman said the police did not receive any calls about the gorilla, and it was the two police officers who thought it might be racist.

He said the policemen knocked on the door but, upon discovering that it was a gorilla, decided not to pursue it any further.

Mrs. Feast responded to the request to take down her toy gorilla with the following note in her window:

“Are you the person/persons that made a complaint to police about the knitted toy? Well why don’t you knock on our door and tell us face-to-face what your concerns were about this toy? These toys usually bring a smile to most people’s faces – especially kiddies. I am so looking forward to seeing your face but it’s not going to happen is it?”

You would think the police in Britain would have better things to do than this, like chasing bad guys for instance. Whoever filed the complaint should mind their own business. Or perhaps they are racist and police should give them a visit. It’s a sad old world when a little, soft, wooly doll is sufficient cause for jackbooted fascists to come to your home and demand an explanation concerning your stuffed gorilla. One might be tempted to tell the police and neighbors to get stuffed.
