World’s Worst Son? Police hunt for son who allegedly covered dad in gasoline and set him on fire

This is just plain evil. A 38 year-old Florida man got into a fight with his 64 year-old father. He doused him with gasoline and lit him on fire. Fire Rescue got there in time to save his life. He is now in critical condition in a burn unit at a hospital with burns to most of his body. Who does something like this? The mother was home at the time as well. He was airlifted immediately and the pain must have been monstrous. During the fight, the father dared the son to pour the gas. The son obliged and then set him on fire. The son fled the scene and they are still looking for him. Just awful.

From the Daily Mail:

Florida police are looking for a man they say tried to kill his father by dousing him in gasoline and setting him on fire inside their home.

Detective Fernando Morales of the Homestead Police Department said that Tabias Rollins, 38, got into a domestic dispute with his 64-year-old father.

Rollins then doused his father, who has not been named, with gasoline before setting him on fire, according to the detective.

Police and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to a house fire call at a home in Homestead, about 35 miles south of Miami, on Saturday morning, Local 10 reported.

‘During the argument, Rollins decided to douse his father with gasoline and light him on fire,’ said Detective Morales.

‘Fire [department] was able to get here on time, extinguish the fire and airlift the father to Kendall Regional Medical Center.’

It is not clear what the argument was about.

The victim’s daughter, Canitra Rollins, said her mother was home during the incident, CBS4 reported.

‘My mom was beside him and my dad was wide awake,’ Canitra Rollins said.

‘My dad dared him he won’t pour the gas. He poured the gasoline on him and tried to light him on fire.’

The flames rapidly engulfed the home, causing substantial damage. Police have said the house is a total loss.

When police arrived at the scene, Rollins had already fled in a white 2000 Cadillac DeVille with a black top.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue airlifted his father to a local hospital where he is in critical condition with burns to most of his body.

One of the family’s neighbors, who spoke on the condition of remaining anonymous, described the victim as ‘very kind’ and said he was always helping others.

The woman also told CBS4 that Rollins had previously caused problems and that neighbors, including herself, had called the police on him in the past.

Morales confirmed that Rollins had a ‘past history’ with the police department.

The Red Cross said it was providing assistance to the displaced family.

Rollins had been in trouble with the law before. Neighbors say the father is a good, kind man. The fire took out the entire home, so this family is now homeless. The house is a total loss. The Red Cross is providing assistance to them for now. This evil miscreant took off in a white 2000 Cadillac Deville with a black top. I hope they catch him and soon. No one seems to know what they were fighting about, but there is no excuse for doing what the son did. None. Only a sociopath would act this way. His father will never be the same even if he survives this. They should get Rollins on attempted murder and arson. I hope they throw the book at this scum.
