Thought Of The Day: How You Evaluate The Debt Ceiling Deal Depends On The Question You’re Asking

If you’re asking the question, “Could the GOP have gotten a significantly better debt ceiling deal?” — you’re probably generally pleased with the deal because the honest answer is “No, even if they’d held out, they wouldn’t have gotten a much better deal.”

On the other hand, if you’re asking the question, “Does this debt ceiling deal fix our problem? Is America back on track fiscally?” — then you’re probably unhappy with the deal because the answer is “Absolutely not.”

So, whether you’re pleased with the ultimate deal or not probably depends on which question you’re asking.
