The Dead & Lottery Winners in New Jersey Still Getting Welfare Benefits

So, if you are in New Jersey and are dead or maybe alive but have won thousands in the state lottery, guess what? You’ll still keep getting your food stamp benefits! Courtesy of the New Jersey taxpayer.

According to a new report on the state’s SNAP food stamp program dozens of the dead and those who have become rich via the lottery are still getting SNAP.

The report issued by the state auditor reviewed New Jersey’s county-administered food stamp program, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, and while the program is reportedly operating well, the report found that dead people were still getting benefits.

By May, for instance, 37 people who had passed away in 2013 were still on the rolls receiving benefits.

The report also found that 66 people who won at least $10,000 in the state lottery were still getting SNAP assistance. One had even won $1,000 a week for life but was still on SNAP.

New Jersey taxpayers must be so proud.

And, remember. This is the mess that Chris Christie is presiding over.
