A long time Democrat staffer who pleaded guilty to two rapes was thrilled to find that he was given no jail time for his crimes.
Democrat Donny Ray Williams was a former Democrat congressional aide for Senators Mary Landrieu and Herb Kohl. He also worked in the Obama administration as the general deputy assistant secretary for congressional and intergovernmental relations in the Department of Housing and Urban Development between April 2009 and October 2010.
Williams pleaded guilty for using drugs on one woman and alcohol on another in 2010 to get them too intoxicated to fight off his sexual assaults. But during his sentencing phase he was given no jail time.
The outrageous reason why Williams got off so lightly after assaulting two women? In 2013, as Williams was walking down Washington Street, a man attacked him by pouring acid on his face and body, leaving him with disfiguring and debilitating injuries. His lawyer used those injuries as an excuse to convince the judge into giving him five years probation in lieu of prison time.
Judge Robert Morin justified the soft sentence by saying that Williams “was a victim of an independent crime and has serious medical issues.” (H/T UFP News)
After the 2013 attack, Williams spent two months in the hospital and was left blind in one eye with terrible second- and third-degree burns. He has undergone nearly 20 surgeries with more scheduled, and has a large protuberance on the top of his head due to ongoing treatment.
So, what does the attack against him have to do with his guilt over the rapes? Nothing at all. But to this liberal judge I guess the assault on Williams somehow erased the two rapes.
