When anyone else calls for the assassination of a president, it’s generally considered unacceptable and if that person is in an elected position, there are calls for impeachment.
Apparently, when a black woman calls for the assassination of President Donald Trump, she’s celebrated and supported. Especially when she’s an elected official.
Missouri state Senator Maria Chappelle-Nadal thought her private Facebook profile was free from criticism when she decided to call for the assassination of President Donald Trump.
Would you be surprised if I told you that she’s a Democrat?
I didn’t think so.
A Missouri State Senator from St. Louis has now called for the assassination of @realDonaldTrump. Keep it classy @MariaChappelleN. pic.twitter.com/JTrkxk4Pkz

Despite repeated and logical calls for her resignation, Chappelle-Nadal says that she’s not going anywhere.
I am not resigning. When POC are respected by this WH & they are willing to do real work, I'll sit down with them. People are traumatized! https://t.co/rmsL4pQSTg

Really? You want respect and you think the best way to do that would be to call for the killing of the leader of the free world? Was that really the best course of action you could come up with? I’m sorry, but I’m under the impression that there are better ways to get the respect you want (though at this point do not deserve) is to have an intelligent, eloquent discussion during which you lay out your grievances and listen to other points of view. You don’t just demand that people who disagree with you be killed! I’m 100% certain you wouldn’t like it if someone did that to you, so why are you being such a hypocrite?
People are justifying her comments as “made in anger,” and despite being “ill-advised,” she should not have to face any repercussions for them. I disagree. I have said things in anger that I’ve regretted, but even at my most outraged, I’ve never, ever, ever called for someone to be killed. That is wrong on so many levels. In a time in America where tensions are higher than ever, the last thing we need is to add fuel to the fire.
Chappelle-Nadal needs to issue an apology and resign from her post, because clearly she doesn’t have the right temperament for the job.
