Trump Reportedly Furious After Kellyanne Conway Makes Announcement About Mitt Romney

Mitt Romney is said to be Donald Trump’s leading contender for Secretary of State. It’s a move that has been somewhat controversial, as Romney is considered by some to be too much a part of the “establishment.” And no one is less happy than the members of Trump’s campaign team. Kellyanne Conway went so far as to slam the idea of Secretary Romney and Trump was allegedly furious at her for that.

According to MSNBC ‘Morning Joe’ co-host Mika Brzezinski, Trump and his senior aides are angry at Conway for denigrating Romney during an interview Sunday with CNN. “Two sources at the top of the Trump transition team confirm to MSNBC that they spoke to the president elect today, and that Donald Trump was ‘furious’ at Kellyanne Conway’s comments on Sunday suggesting that Trump betrayed his supporters by even considering Mitt Romney for a position in his cabinet,” Brzezinski said.

“Kellyanne went rogue at Donald Trump’s expense at the worst possible time, a source familiar with Trump’s thinking said. Trump’s top aides said they were ‘baffled’ by Conway’s comments and suggested that it feeds into a growing concern inside the campaign that ‘instead of driving Donald Trump’s message, she’s pushing her own agenda’,” Brzezinski continued. “One top transition aide said, ‘It’s dangerous’.”

Conway alleged that choosing Romney as Secretary of State would be a slap in the face to the anti-establishment base that elected Trump. “It’s just breathtaking in scope and intensity the type of messages I received from all over the country,” she said. She added that a large “number of people who feel betrayed to think that a Governor Romney would get the most prominent cabinet post after he went so far out of his way to hurt Donald Trump.”

Brzezinski’s co-host, Joe Scarborough, agreed with Trump, though, in that Conway was over the line. He said Conway was “extraordinarily undisciplined” and said she was an example of “political children” who “don’t know how to play the game.”

Many of the people who supported the idea of Romney as Secretary of State compared it to Lincoln’s “team of rivals,” who would consistently challenge Trump and expose him to different ideas.
