Trump Takes Shot At Obama, Clinton With Epic New Video – ‘I Fulfilled My Campaign Promise…’

President Trump took to Twitter today to rub the faces of previous presidents in the fact that he kept his promise to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. You can hardly blame him for that. Both Bush and Obama campaigned on recognizing Jerusalem as the capital, but never carried through on it. Instead they signed six-month waivers to avoid the issue. “I fulfilled my campaign promise – others didn’t!” Trump tweeted, referring to his decision to officially recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and to relocate the American embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. That move will probably take a couple of years. But Trump will do it… he sees it as part of his legacy.

Trump kept his word to Israel and it is historic. He will be forever linked to Israel now and Armageddon didn’t magically ensue because he kept his word. That comes later. Doing this took stones. It was the right and moral thing to do. Just how pathetic is it that previous presidents didn’t have the giblets to do this? This is what a real leader does and I don’t care what his politics are. I’m impressed by it and overjoyed that it is finally coming to pass.

Trump is taking his moment in the sun here. He attached a video of previous presidents promising during their campaigns to recognize Jerusalem as the capital. None of them delivered on those faux promises. None, until Trump. “Jerusalem is still the capital of Israel and must remain an undivided city accessible to all,” Bill Clinton said during his 1992 campaign. “As soon as I take office I will begin the process of moving the United States ambassador to the city Israel has chosen as its capital,” Bush also said. And Obama got a double dose – Trump had two clips of him in 2008: “I continue to say that Jerusalem will be the capital of Israel. And I have said that before and I will say it again,” Obama said in the first one. In the second one, Obama said, “And Jerusalem must remain the capital of Israel and it must remain undivided.”

When Trump ran, he made a very similar promise: “We will move the American embassy to the eternal capital of the Jewish people, Jerusalem,” Trump said at a 2016 campaign rally. Trump did sign one six-month waiver, but unlike his predecessors, he intended to keep his vow. “My announcement today marks the beginning of a new approach to conflict between Israel and the Palestinians,” Trump said Wednesday in announcing the move. “While previous presidents have made this a major campaign promise, they failed to deliver. Today, I am delivering. Today we finally acknowledge the obvious. That Jerusalem is Israel’s capital,” Trump stated. “This is nothing more or less than a recognition of reality. It is also the right thing to do. It is something that has to be done.”

Brit Hume put out a tweet that referred to legislation signed in 1995. It called for the American embassy to be moved from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem and for the US to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. But… there’s that waiver thingie that was slipped in so a president could sign it and put off doing what we promised to do. Trump put an end to that. Good for him and he will always be remembered for it.
