Now, I’m In A Bad Moo-d Too — Evidently Our Navy Is Non-Essential

Well, I didn’t think I could get any more pissed today, but I’m there. First, I hear that Obama has blocked the death gratuity for families of fallen Rangers. But, I was heartened to hear a private foundation stepped up to the plate to help:

After families of fallen U.S. military personnel were denied benefits due to the government shutdown, the Fisher House Foundation has stepped forward to help cover travel and funeral costs to help families receive the remains of their loved ones who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

The Fisher House has been providing housing and travel assistance to military families since 199o, so this offer “is nothing new to us,” Cindy Campbell, vice president of public affairs for the nonprofit organization, told TheBlaze Wednesday morning.

“What is new is the Fisher House stepping in to bridge the gap between when they get reimbursements from the government,” Campbell said.

The Pentagon typically pays out $100,000 within three days of a soldier’s death. But it says the shutdown means there is no authority now to pay the money.

“After losing a loved one in service to our nation, these families should not have to endure more pain as the result of political squabbling,” Ken Fisher, CEO of Fisher House Foundation, said in a statement Tuesday. “For the last 20 years, Fisher House has been there to support our military families in their time of greatest need. We are now stepping up to honor the sacrifices that have been made, and to repay a debt that is truly unpayable.”

I am deeply ashamed of the Progressives for doing this to our fallen heroes and their families. I am massively proud of those helping and doing the right thing. While scurrilous politicians are giving lip service to rectifying this egregious treatment of our finest, others are actually doing something — privately and without Big Brother.

But if that didn’t make your blood boil, prepare to steam and roil. A friend sent this to me from Grumpy Elder:

I received a call from my ‘Navy Son’ last night. He called me from Japan where he’s been stationed for the past two and a half years. It was great to hear from him. Until, of course, he told me why he was calling.

In hindsight, I should have known that the call would come. And I should have been better prepared to respond to it.

On September 30th, 2013 Congress sent a Bill to President Obama to assure the continued funding for Active Duty Military. It was signed. And then…

My son called me last night to tell me that on October 1st he had a ‘pending transaction’ for his Credit Union account. This, of course, was his ‘normally scheduled’ paycheck deposit. Except, for some reason, his ‘normally scheduled’ paycheck was NOT normal.

The following morning he awoke to find no deposit, no ‘pending transactions’, only the balance he had in his account on September 30th.

It wasn’t just his son — anyone there in a Navy uniform got stiffed. I thought Obama said our military would continue to be paid? Grumpy Elder will do what any parent would that could, he will cover his son and make sure he has funds. Not everyone will be able to do that. Part-time employees at the base were told last week that they’d have to get ‘loans’ to pay their bills. But the full blown military was supposed to be paid – it was another lie in a very long string of damnable lies. This breaks my heart:

In this era of broken promises, broken dreams, and shattered hopes, why would I have expected any other outcome from the rolling tide of ineptitude which is the Obama Administration?

In the end, we all will get wet.

I guess that’s why I’m feeling kind of ‘soaked’ lately. My face is particularly wet but I don’t know if it’s from tears of sadness or rage?

Probably a little of both, but I suspect more of one than the other.

While the lying Progressives in DC spread their bullcrap, all of America is now in a bad moo-d. Evidently, our dictator has decided that our military is non-essential. That cuts both ways you asshat – you are definitely deemed non-essential politically.
