Secret Communion Taken by 2nd man on the Moon Kept Secret by NASA

Genesis 1:1
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”

How lovely is this? The second man on the moon, Buzz Aldrin, was serious about the blessings Heavenly father bestowed on him when he took his trip – and even took with him the sacred items needed to have Communion in the infinite beauty of the galaxy. reports:

When Edwin ‘Buzz’ Aldrin arrived on the moon, he was the second man to step foot on it, following Neil Armstrong. However, he was the first (and only) to take part in Holy Communion on it.

Before taking his first steps on the moon, Aldrin pulled out a small container of wine and some bread which he had brought from his church near Houston- Webster Presbyterian.

According to the Guardian, he radioed back to NASA and asked for a few moments of silence and invited listeners to reflect on what had just been accomplished and give thanks with him.

“I poured the wine into the chalice our church had given me. In the one-sixth gravity of the moon the wine curled slowly and gracefully up the side of the cup. It was interesting to think that the very first liquid ever poured on the moon, and the first food eaten there, were communion elements,” Aldrin described in a 1970 copy of Guideposts magazine, according to the Guardian.

Interesting, indeed. But also, wonderfully appropriate.

Unfortunately, all of this was swept under the rug by NASA because they were still dealing with an atheist named Madalyn Murray O’Hair who, according to TIME, tried to sue them when the Apollo 8 crew broadcasted parts of Genesis while orbiting the moon on Christmas Eve. Apparently, O’Hair wanted to ban NASA astronauts from practicing religion anywhere in the universe in the name of the all too familiar “separation of church and state.” It was Aldrin’s plan to tell the world about his communion on the moon, but sadly, the historic news had to wait thanks to O’Hair.

Thankfully, we know about it now. What better time to give thanks to God than on another heavenly body.

Aldrin also read from a notecard that had John 15:5 written on it. It said, “I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever remains in me, and I in him, will bear much fruit; for you can do nothing without me.”

According to USA Today, the notecard was auctioned off in Texas.

What a simply amazing story. To thank Heavenly Father in the heavens, is just pure class. Too bad this wasn’t more publicly known. Of course one dissident had to ruin a spiritual moment that should have been celebrated. This was just beautiful. Thank you, Buzz Aldrin.
