If You’re Too Incompetent or Lazy to Get ID, We’re Better Off If You Don’t Vote

Liberals have dug up some 93-year-old codger in Pennsylvania who’s too lazy or incompetent to get ID so she can vote and they’re demanding we leave the election in that state wide open to fraud in order to cater to her.

The first time Viviette Applewhite went to the polls, she cast her vote for John F. Kennedy. But this year, a strict new voter identification law will likely prevent the now-93-year old woman and many others in Pennsylvania from participating in their country’s democratic process. And Applewhite won’t stand for it.

She will be the plaintiff in the voter identification lawsuit being filed by the ACLU and the NAACP in the state, which claims that “the state’s voter photo ID law violates the Pennsylvania Constitution by depriving citizens of their most fundamental constitutional right — the right to vote.”

Applewhite no longer has a copy of her birth certificate, and she does not have a drivers’ license. Without either of these things, the new Pennsylvania restrictions say that she is ineligible to vote.

If you don’t have a birth certificate, guess what? You can order another one. If you don’t have a driver’s license, that’s fine. You can also use, “non-license photo IDs, a U.S. passport, a U.S. military ID (or) a photo ID from an accredited Pennsylvania public or private college.” If Viviette Applewhite or anyone else says it’s impossible for her to get the identification she needs to vote, they’re simply not telling the truth. Moreover, if you’re not willing to go through the trouble it takes to get ID, then voting apparently isn’t very important to you in the first place. So why should the rest of us get up in arms when you don’t care all that much yourself?

Do we have to open up our entire voting system to fraud because Viviette Applewhite doesn’t feel like taking even the most minimal steps to prove that she’s actually eligible to vote? What if Viviette Applewhite doesn’t feel like actually showing up to vote or mailing in an absentee ballot? Do we have to allow her to whisper her vote to whatever permutation is ACORN that is running around in Pennsylvania these days so their minions can vote on her behalf? Viviette Applewhite does have a right to vote — maybe, I mean whoever shows up on election day using that name could live in Maine for all we know or be a 34-year-old Asian woman and no one would have no idea without a photo ID — but her right doesn’t supersede the right of other citizens in Pennsylvania to also have their votes count. It’s just as much of a problem if someone casts a legitimate vote and a fraudulent vote balances it out as it is if someone who wants to vote is unable to do so. People like Viviette Applewhite and her allies aren’t fighting for the right to vote; they’re using pitifully weak excuses to try to keep as much voter fraud in the system as possible because they believe it will benefit their side during the next election.
