Famed Rev. Franklin Graham Expresses His Admiration Over Pence Being “UNASHAMED” Of His Faith [VIDEO]

There has been a lot of discussion about Tuesday’s vice presidential debate, talk about who talked over who, whether the moderator did a good job or not, and which candidate won. But there was one thing that Reverand Franklin Graham noticed that hasn’t gotten much attention.

Graham wasn’t impressed by the policy discussions or the debating over which presidential candidate was better. Something Mike Pence said caught his attention and Graham made sure to talk about how much he appreciated it.

Pence spoke openly during the debate about his Christian faith and for Graham, that sets him apart. “My Christian faith is at the very heart of who I am,” Pence said during the debate. “I was also raised in a wonderful family of faith. It was church on Sunday morning and grace before dinner. But my Christian faith became real for me when I made a personal decision for Christ when I was a freshman in college.”

He continued, “And I have tried to live that out — however imperfectly every day of my life since. With my wife at my side, we have followed a calling into public service where we have tried to keep faith with the values that we cherish. And with regard to when I struggle, I appreciate and I have a great deal of respect for the Senator Kaine’s sincere faith. I truly do.”

This is the kind of politician that Graham says we don’t see enough of anymore — and we need to see more of. “Many politicians and public figures today avoid mentioning their faith. It is because secularism has permeated our society,” he wrote on Facebook. “George Washington was not afraid to kneel in prayer. General Patton prayed before he went into battle. Abraham Lincoln spoke unhesitatingly about Almighty God in the Gettysburg address. Last night during the Vice Presidential Debate, it was so encouraging to hear Governor Pence share about his personal relationship with Jesus Christ.”

Graham also appreciated that Pence was specific about his faith, rather than speaking vaguely as a way to pander to Christian voters. “Some politicians may talk about their faith in generalities, but there aren’t many who are bold enough to talk about Jesus Christ. As a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ I’m grateful for those unashamed to speak His Name and live out their faith in Him,” he wrote. “The Bible says, ‘Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved’ (Acts 4:12).”

For Graham, Pence was the clear winner of the debate, but he wasn’t alone. Most polls showed that Pence was considered victorious. Maybe being honest about faith, rather than trying to hide it, is something more politicians need to do more of.
