John Kasich, Liberal Gadfly

Back when there were 17 Republican candidates in the race, who would have thought that we would get down to three, and one of them would be anti-gun, pro-common core, and pro-amnesty? I refer to the gadfly John Kasich.

At least Kasich can count on Bill Clinton’s support. Look at the grateful note Slick Willie sent him for supporting an “assault weapons” ban:

As for Common Core,

On illegal immigration, Kasich sounds as radically left-wing as any Democrat. He says that enforcing immigration law is not “the kind of values we believe in” and compares it to FDR’s internment camps for Japanese Americans during WWII. It would not be “humane” to allow ICE officers to do their job. You can’t deport illegal aliens because they are “made in the image of the Lord.” They should be allowed to stay on the grounds that “they’re here.” Kasich promises that as president he would enact amnesty within the first 100 days. He doesn’t even want to put an end to colonization by anchor baby.

Kasich can come across as perpetually confused. Maybe he has wandered into the wrong party by mistake.

What is truly confusing is why he doesn’t get out of a race from which he has been mathematically eliminated. If he is running for VP, he has already proven that he might deliver Ohio. Why not just get out of the away?

Whatever the intended purpose of his campaign, the practical effect of it is to continue to divide opposition, thereby enabling Donald Trump. Cruz supporters like Glenn Beck are enraged:

“Kasich, I mean, excuse my language, but, you son of a b***h, the republic is at stake,” Beck said Wednesday on The Glenn Beck Radio Program. “This is not like a normal race. The republic is at stake.”

Evidently Kasich is more concerned with his own delusional ambitions, although his career has already peaked. No one is going to hand him the nomination despite his paltry delegate count at an open convention. If he is perceived as tipping the nomination to Trump, he will be finished in national politics after the debacle finally ends.
