Obama Expands War on Coal to Gas-Burning Power Plants

With only three years left to fundamentally transform America into a second-rate country, Obama is going straight for the jugular: our energy supply. In addition to throwing the war on coal into overdrive by effectively banning the construction of new coal-fired power plants, he is going after gas:

This month, the Environmental Protection Agency will propose standards that will establish stricter pollution limits for gas-fired power plants than coal-fired power plants, according to individuals who were briefed on the matter but asked not to be identified because the rule was not public yet.

The revised rule, which would impose greenhouse gas limits on power plants for the first time, will still require utilities to install costly carbon controls on coal plants.

“President Obama is committed to taking action for our kids by cutting pollution and addressing climate change in a way that [quack quack quack].”

It’s all for the kids. How nice. To protect them from “climate change.” Since you could no more prevent the climate from changing than you could stop the sun from rising, they must mean global warming. But since the global warming hoax has been definitively debunked, they must have some other motive: namely, to cripple the economy and drive up unemployment. Affordable energy is the lifeblood of the economy, as surely as poverty is the health of the welfare state.

For an idea of where this is heading, look to the Model City, which has already arrived at the destination Obama et al. have planned for the rest of the country:

A major power outage is affecting Wayne State University, the Frank Murphy Hall of Justice, the City-County building, the Detroit Historical Museum, and the People Mover in downtown and Midtown Detroit.

“Some institutional public lighting customers are experiencing service interruption caused by extreme heat, cable failure, and routine maintenance — all combining causing system overload,” said Robert Warfield, a spokesman for the Detroit Mayor’s Office.

Our fundamentally transformed future will take place in the dark.
