New England Patriots Won’t Appeal Deflategate Punishment–Now Up to Tom Brady

New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft has announced that he is not going to appeal the NFL’s Deflategate punishment and will accpet the $1 million fine and the loss of some draft picks.

Robert Kraft said that he disagrees with the outcome, but for the good of the league he will not press the matter and will accept the punishment and drop the whole thing.

Robert Kraft announced at a press conference today that the New England Patriots will not appeal the $1million fine handed down to them by the NFL for their involvement in the Deflategate scandal.

‘I don’t want to continue the rhetoric that’s gone on for the last four months,’ said Kraft, as he agreed to ‘reluctantly’ accept the league’s punishment.

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, who was suspended by the league for four games, is still set to appeal.

‘At no time should the agenda of one team outweigh the collective good of the whole 32,’ explained Kraft.

He then said the decision was the ‘best thing for our fans, our team and the NFL.’

On Monday, ESPN reported that Kraft had been in contact with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell a few times since the release of the Wells Report and subsequent punishment from the league.

The team will also lose their first round pick in the 2016 draft and the fourth round pick in the following year.

The NFL fined the club the record amount after determining individuals in the organization had purposely deflated footballs used in the team’s 45-7 playoff victory over the Indianapolis Colts earlier this year.

The report also said there was a strong possibility Brady knew this was happening at the time.

Quarterback Brady, though, has not yet announced his final intentions. Thus far it looks like he intends to continue appealing his punishment.
