Nino Esposito and Roland ‘Drew’ Bosee, a gay couple who have been together since the 1970’s, were thrilled when the U.S. Supreme Court legalized same-sex marriage. But their attempt to tied the knot hit a bump in the road because technically, they’re father and son.
Metro News reported on the strange situation:
Three years ago, Mr Esposito, 78, and Mr Bosee, 78, entered into a father-son adoption to secure inheritance rights and other benefits – including the right to visit your loved one in hospital – afforded to straight couples but not to gay ones.
In Mr Bosee’s words, the pair ‘thought they were getting ahead of the game.’
Now because of this the pair cannot legally marry, and an Allegheny County judge has refused a petition by the Pittsburgh couple to dissolve their adoption.
CNN reports that many same-sex couples have run into the same road block.
