Police Officer Faces Trouble After ‘Mis-Gendering’ Transgender Person On Driving Ticket

As the transgender movement grows, the LGBT lobby has been insisting more and more that people play along with the delusion that someone’s gender can actually be changed. And that mindset was on display in Fort Lauderdale for the most ridiculous reason: because a police officer “mis-gendered” someone after giving them a ticket for reckless driving.

Shelby Kendall was pulled over in January after he was caught drag racing a Ford Mustang in his Chevrolet Camaro on a four lane public road. Officer James Brinton followed Kendall into a Winn-Dixie parking lot, where he wrote Kendall a ticket for reckless driving. It would seem to be a fairly standard traffic stop for reckless driving, but Brinton was in for a big surprise.

See, Kendall is a biological male who decided that he was actually a transgender woman in 2014. Brinton apparently didn’t realize that Kendall “identifies” as a woman, and wrote the ticket referring to Kendall as a male… which he is. And Kendall was furious — he quickly filed a complaint with the Fort Lauderdale Police Department’s Internal Affairs.

“I wasn’t really contesting why I was pulled over. I was more contesting how I was treated,” Kendall said. “If I’ve done everything I need to do for the state of Florida to recognize me as a female, he doesn’t have a right to purposely mis-gender me. It was inappropriate and kind of bullying and sends a message to the transgender community.”

Kendall’s license has female pronouns on it, but Brinton says that he thought it was a mistake, given Kendall’s rather masculine appearance. And LGBT activists want officers to be forced to go through training on how to deal with transgender people now. “What concerns me is that the officer felt it was not necessary for him to correct the [citation],” LGBT activist Michael Rajner said. “He robbed that individual of her dignity.”

For now, investigators are recommending that Brinton be issued a written reprimand.
