Obama to Bestow Subsidized Solar Panels Upon Baltimore Ghetto

Obama has come up with a plan to address the decay characterizing Baltimore, which was on such graphic display during the recent riots. He will spend our money subsidizing solar panels for low-income homes:

Obama administration officials held a press conference in Baltimore with Rep. Elijah E. Cummings to announce the new program intended to provide low-cost financing for homeowners and renters in low-income city neighborhoods.

“We need to expand opportunities for more families to reap the benefits of using cleaner sources of energy that can also help households save money on their utility bills,” said President Obama’s top energy adviser, Brian Deese.

Despite the big announcement, the White House had no estimate of the costs the new program would incur on the federal government.

Who cares? At this point no one expects the national debt to be paid off anyway.

At the risk of belaboring the obvious, if solar panels made sense economically, Big Government wouldn’t have to flush our money away subsidizing them.

A community that cannot refrain from looting and burning local businesses can be counted on to destroy the panels, either to sell the materials for scrap or just for laughs. Whether Baltimore is sunny enough for the panels to be effective doesn’t matter. It’s the politically correct thought that counts.
