William Weld Inveighs Cluelessly Against Guns

We already know that Libertarian presidential nominee Gary Johnson is not a libertarian but an authoritarian liberal who happens to really enjoy smoking marijuana. Let’s have a look at the Libertarian vice presidential candidate William Weld. Is he a strong advocate of the fundamental liberties enshrined in the Constitution, as you might expect? Apparently not. Here’s what he had to say in a recent REVOLT 2 Vote interview about firearms:

“The five-shot rifle, that’s a standard military rifle.”

In what modern army? Hold on, he’s just getting started:

“The problem is if you attach a clip to it so it can fire more shells and if you remove the pin so that it becomes an automatic weapon, and those are independent criminal offenses, that’s when they become essentially a weapon of mass destruction.”

Where to start? By “attach a clip to” he presumably means “insert a magazine into.” Rifles don’t fire shells, cannons do. Removing the pin to turn a five-round rifle into a machine gun sure sounds easy. As for small arms constituting weapons of mass destruction, I would say let’s leave the hoplophobic hysteria to the moonbats, except that Weld is a moonbat. Like most moonbats, he knows no more than an average schoolgirl about the guns he wants to ban.

Apparently the “five-shot rifle” he was referring to is America’s most popular sporting rifle, the AR-15 (a standard magazine actually holds 30 cartridges). Weld and his fellow libs consider this rifle to be a menace to society, so Big Government must take action. But it is not the worse menaceā€¦

“The problem of handguns is probably even worse than the problem of the AR-15.”

If it ever starts to look like William Weld might end up in charge, many handguns will be reported lost in boating accidents.

Donald Trump enraged conservatives by taking the leftist position that the fundamental right to bear arms should be selectively denied on an arbitrary basis by placing people on arcane government lists, without due process. Trump is not alone. Barks Weld:

“You shouldn’t have anybody who’s on a terrorist watch list be able to buy any gun at all.”

Come for the anti-gun rhetoric, stay for the irresponsible anti-police Black Lives Matter propaganda: here’s video.
