We’re Going To Use Obamacare To Beat Democrats Like Baby Seals In November

Hey, America, you have a phone call. It’s Pravda on the line and they just called to say that they’re shocked at the sort of propaganda coming from our mainstream media.

Before the vote on Obamacare, the MSM acted like an extension of the White House press office. Since deathpanelcare became law, they’ve switched over to lowering expectations, trying to distract the public, and pumping out Democratic spin disguised as news.

Yesterday, there were stories popping up all over the place claiming that Republicans had given up on repealing Obamacare. Their evidence for that claim? An old quote from John Cornyn and a bunch of Democrats insisting it was a losing issue.

Now Reuters is at it again with an article that’s one part reality, one part liberal wish fulfillment:

The week after passing landmark healthcare reform and handing President Barack Obama an important victory, members of the U.S. Congress returned to their home districts for a recess to face constituents and justify their votes after the bruising legislative battle.

While Obama made flying visits across the country to tout the new legislation, a number of key Democrats, who led the charge for healthcare reform, seemed to keep a low profile and are doing little to beat the drum.

Republican lawmakers, however, made quick plans to harness what they see as voter discontent over the issue — either by lambasting those Democrats who may be politically vulnerable or by shoring up their own shaky campaigns with criticism of “Obamacare.”

While healthcare reform was thought to be a defining issue in congressional elections, many experts believe it may lose steam by November and prove less important for voters than unemployment and the economy.

Before public anger over healthcare fades, Republicans from veteran senators to freshman congressmen were racing to get their message out at the outset of the two-week spring recess.

…Conservative Tea Party activists held a rally Reid’s hometown of Searchlight, Nevada and the senator welcomed them to town as a boost to the local economy.

“I don’t think he feels like he needs to counter (the rally), it’s part of just educating people on what’s in health care,” said Tom Brede, Reid’s Nevada-based spokesman.

Democratic Senator Ben Nelson of Nebraska, who initially secured federal funding for his state to cover the cost of Medicaid expansion in the controversial “Cornhusker Kickback,” also had nothing related to healthcare on his agenda.

…Political analysts said Republicans needed to tread carefully now that healthcare overhaul is a fait accompli or risk being painted as the “party of no” by Democrats.

“My assumption is that this is going to wash out. It’s just not going to be that central (to the election). If anything, it might turn out to be a net plus for the Democrats,” said Joel Aberbach, director of the Center for American Politics and Public Policy at the University of California, Los Angeles.

Oh, sure, by November no one will care that the Democrats are raising taxes, slashing Medicare, causing premiums to spike, paying for abortions with your tax dollars, giving Viagra to sex offenders, killing jobs, raising the deficits, and destroying the quality of medical care in this country with a plan that will lead to doctor shortages, rationing, and death panels.

Gosh, why in the world would Republicans, none of whom voted for one of the most irresponsible bills in American history, still be talking about that issue in November?

Granted, Joel Aberbach is right that it could “turn out to be a net plus for the Democrats” — well, if he’s only talking about parts of the country that are more liberal than Taxachusetts, where the Democrats lost a seat held by Ted Kennedy in an election where health care reform was a central issue. How ironic is it that the Democrats are still making Ted Kennedy references when that was the primary issue that ended up allowing Republicans to take his seat?

Don’t delude yourself, Democrats. Barack Obama told Republicans to “go for it” on this issue in November and oh, are we going to do exactly that. We’re going to make you defend every lie, every broken promise, every crooked deal, and every provision of this illegitimate : healthcare-wrecking atrocity. You made the choice to sell your souls for socialism and the bill is going to start coming due this November.
