Eradication of Southern Heritage Gathers Steam
Dylann Roof has faded from the news, displaced by the far greater and continuing menace of the Muslim terrorists our government has been importing. However, liberals used him as a pretext to declare a war of eradication against all things Southern, and this war continues.
From New Orleans, the largest city of the Confederacy:
The New Orleans City Council voted 6-1 [Thursday] to remove four historical monuments in the city: Robert E Lee Circle, PGT Beauregard’s City Park statue, the Jefferson Davis monument and the Liberty Place monument.
The loss of precious heritage is the price of liberal rule. Mayor Mitch Landrieu has conducted his campaign against Southern history with typical moonbat skeeviness.
Hayride exclusive reports exposed months ago how the Landrieu administration may have thrown thousands of dollars at a few of the monuments in order to make a money-trail to give the illusion that taxpayers are burdened by the upkeep of the monuments.
However, the Monumental Task Commission (MTC) has kept up all monuments in the city with no charge to the taxpayers for over a decade now. Officials with the MTC said the city knows this, but still spent thousands of dollars on upkeep over the last few months, though they have never done that in the past.
Additionally, the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) Chief Michael Harrison sent a letter months ago claiming that the four monuments caused ‘unrest’ for the city and invoked violence. However, in an exclusive Hayride investigation found that ‘unrest’ around the monuments only came after the Landrieu administration requested the monuments be removed.
The exploitation of “unrest” that they themselves whip up has always been a favorite tool of fascists.
From Florida:
Riviera Beach renamed Old Dixie Highway in honor of President Barack Obama during a ceremony on Thursday, a change that city officials say will help move the community past its segregated history.
Here’s a good neighborhood to avoid after nightfall:
From Virginia:
One of the nation’s largest school districts has amended its school-naming policy, opening the door for changes to schools that honor Confederate generals and evoke the school system’s legacy of resisting integration.
Students, community members and alumni in Fairfax County have been agitating to change the names of two high schools named for Confederate generals — J.E.B. Stuart and Robert E. Lee — and a third honoring a past superintendent, W.T. Woodson, who was an opponent of desegregation.
The school board voted unanimously Thursday to alter the policy that barred officials from changing the names of school buildings unless the building was repurposed. Under the new policy, the board also can change a name “where some other compelling need exists.”
No doubt advancing the liberal agenda qualifies as a compelling need.
Appomattox was incomplete. The South was militarily defeated by the invaders, but it still existed as a cultural and historical entity. Not for much longer though. Future generations will have only the vaguest clues that it ever existed.
Next up for eradication: the Founding Fathers. Many of them were slave owners after all. More importantly, they left us with a document that needs to be discredited before it can be repealed.
George Orwell had it right once again:
