Cop crashes his car after being attacked by something not human

Never heard of this one before

This story is a hoot. But the victim isn’t likely to live it down any time soon.

One police officer wasn’t exactly hooting it up after he drove off the road after being attacked in his own cop car – by an owl.

‘Suddenly I felt something hit the left side of my face, so I’m thinking its a football or something,’ said Covington, Louisiana Police officer Lance Benjamin. ‘And then I felt some scratching on the back of my head and some pecking.’

Apparently irritated at being detained by police on Christmas Eve, the barred owl, who had flown into the cruiser’s passenger side window, then attacked the officer.

Benjamin’s body camera caught the officer’s remarkably calm reaction to being pecked with a beak without cause and scratched with talons without a warrant.

‘There’s an owl in the unit there,’ Benjamin says.

But that was after the winged creature forced the officer off the road and into a ditch.

‘I tried to keep control of my car, went into a ditch, avoided some trees. Finally was able to stop the car put it in park get out. And there he was, just chilling out in the car,’ he told WVUE.

Benjamin rolled down the passenger side window so the bird could escape – but apparently digging his new digs, the owl took 45 minutes before he flew off into the night, disappearing like Hoo-dini.

We all know it’s been a bad year for police in America. It seems that it’s so bad that in Louisiana, we now have the budding Owl Lives Matter movement to contend with.
